HOW TO REGISTER

There are three ways to register: (Note: Payment by credit card or Paypal is only available through online registration )

ONLINE: You can now register online (payment options are: Mail-in, Credit Card or Paypal)

RETURNING PLAYERS
The Rebels are requesting that all returning players complete new registration forms. Please ensure that all information is completed, regardless of how you are registering – online, mail or in person. Players must be able to provide a current NS Health card. Birth certificates will only be required for returning players if the Rebels have no copy currently on file.

To reduce the backlog of last minute registrations, all registration forms received after Monday, March 28th will be considered late. All registration fees increase by $30 after Monday, March 28th, so register on time to save!

COMMUNICATION

Our preferred method of communication is through our website www.northwestrebels.com. Most scheduling can be checked at www.mmll.ca and is the responsibility of each participating family, although the Rebels will make every attempt at communicating changes in advance via email.

PLAYERS NEW TO THE HALIFAX NORTHWEST REBELS
The Rebels offer lacrosse programs for players aged 4 to 21.
New players can complete a registration form at Rockingham School Library during registration or download online and mail in. Please indicate any previous lacrosse teams, including the association, city, & province. New players must provide LEGIBLE PHOTOCOPIES of the following items:
• Player’s Birth Certificate, or passport indicating age;
• NS Health Card
Late fees will not apply to new members.

EVALUATIONS
No player is permitted to attend evaluations/tryouts unless formally registered. Each parent/player is responsible to submit the fully completed registration form no later than 48 hours before the first evaluation/tryout session. Contact the Registrar immediately by phone, if this is a problem.

Schedules for EVALUATIONS, and DIVISION TRYOUTS will be posted on the Rebels website www.northwestrebels.com as soon as details are finalized. Check frequently after April 10th.

WAIT LIST POLICY
Unregistered Returning players may lose their priority to a new player if a division is full after March 28th, 2011.

If a division becomes full prior to March 28th, the priority for acceptance shall be:
1. Returning Halifax Northwest Rebels players;
2. New players that are siblings of returning Halifax Northwest Rebels players;
3. New players transferring to the Halifax Northwest Rebels from another MLA;
4. New players with no previous lacrosse experience.
Player Registration Acceptance after March 28th is based on space availability and the date and time received by the Halifax Northwest Rebels.

NEW THIS YEAR!!
We will be offering a $ 25. 00 discount to families, on second and any subsequent family members. First (highest level) player of a family pays full price, each following member of the same family will have their fee reduced by $ 25.00.

RESIDENCY
Metro Minor Lacrosse League Operating Rules Regulation 2 defines the residential boundaries for the Halifax Northwest Rebels. New & Returning Players eligible to register with the Halifax Northwest Rebels MUST reside within the following limits:
• North of the Bedford Highway to the old Bedford Town Line. (normal hockey divide between Halifax and Bedford); South of Bicentennial Drive to Bayer's Rd to Windsor St to Young St to Halifax Harbour. These boundaries include postal codes B3K, B3M, B3N and B3S;
• The Fairview portion of the B3N Postal Code, which is to the north of the Bicentennial Highway;
• Clayton Park, and all of the B3M Postal Code;
• All of the B3S Postal Code between the Bicentennial Highway and the Bedford Basin.
If your home is not within this region, you have to register with another MLA. Other MLAs include:

PROGRAMS
The Rebels will offer the following divisions this season, assuming that there are sufficient registrants:




PROGRAM STRUCTURE IN 2011:
Peewee, Bantam and Midget divisions will offer Club and Select levels of competition. Participants will only be allowed to play in one competitive level. Interested participants who want to play Select will be required to attend try-outs. There will be 10 games at the Tyke level and 14 games in each other level of divisional play ( plus play-offs) and 18 games in each level of divisional Select play (plus playoffs). Tyke, Novice and Junior B will be Club level teams. PeeWee, Bantam and Midget will have both Club and Select level teams, should the registration numbers permit. Junior A is considered a Select level team.
Scheduling: The season will start the week in May. A double round robin tournament play-off in Club levels will take place in early July for club teams. The Select leagues will hold their play-offs mid-July for all divisions. Junior A playoffs run a little later in July.

FEES

The general registration fees for are based on the following breakdown of expenses and are expected to provide the association with a very modest surplus.

NSF cheques: will result in the immediate suspension of all player rights until payment (money order or cash) has been received, complete with an additional $30 fee to cover bank charges incurred. If this is a possibility, please consider paying by money order or cash now to avoid problems later.
Late Fee: $30 late fee applies to all returning Rebels players whose registration form is received after Monday, March 28th, 2011.

PAYMENT OPTIONS
Any player with outstanding fees from any previous season shall pay in full before registration for the current season will be considered. There shall be NO Exceptions.

General Registration Fees must be submitted in full at the time of registration, or the registration shall be considered incomplete. The fee must be paid in full at the time of registration in the form of a cheque, money order or cash or online using our new online payment feature. Any special financial arrangement other than described here shall be subject to written approval by the president.

All Select tryout fees are due in full with registration, or the player will not be permitted to attend the session(s) required for tryouts. These fees are non-refundable.

REFUNDS

Refund requests SHALL be made in writing to the Registrar, registrar@northwestrebels.com. Please be patient since the Rebels will wait until your cheque has cleared the bank before issuing a refund, and March/April is a very busy time for the executive.
• Refunds requested before April 15: return the full registration fee less a $30 administration fee.
• Refunds requested before May 15: return 50% of the registration fee less a $ 30 administration fee. No refunds after this date.
• Refunds for medical reasons will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Goaltender Equipment The Rebels have goaltender equipment available for all goaltenders to borrow for the season.
