Open Executive Meeting - Wed, Jan 28th (Updated: Minutes from meeting)

Lacrosse season is fast approaching, but at Northwest, we need to put a little work into a new executive team and readying for the 2009 box season.
Meeting Wednesday, January 28, at 7:30- 9:00 pm(location Rockingham School Library), to elect new officers and update on the season ahead.

The following names have been proposed for the 2009 NW Executive. To properly install the executive, we will need to hold and Annual General Meeting (AGM), which I will propose for Tuesday, February 17th, 8:00pm at Rockingham School library. Wayne, please post a notice of the AGM on our website, as well as the ‘nominated’ positions. We will accept challenges for any position or nominations from the floor at the AGM. ;-)

One important note for the Registrar’s position. I have an agreement with Diane MacDonald that she will conduct the initial registration process (given her experience and readiness) around the 3rd week in February. We have a small committee of volunteers that have agreed to help out. However, we will need a new Registrar to take on the role at the end of March to provide reporting throughout the season. It was our believe that this would be the best way to transition this role, and prepare the new Registrar for the 2010 season.

Other notes from the meeting:

1. Halifax NW will conduct a ‘Try Lacrosse’ program on Thursday, February 19th at the Rockingham gym, 6:30 - 8:00. Visit www.trylacrosse.ca for further details, but returning NW players should note that they can win a lacrosse stick, just for referring a friend, aged 8-12. Previous sessions have ‘sold out’ early so register today. We’ll also be looking for volunteers on the evening for the registration table and to help with practice/ drills.

2. The Rockingham School Gym pre-season schedule has started. Apart from ‘storm days’ we are at the school every week as follows:

6-8:00 Bantam/ Midget - pre-season conditioning camp

Thurs

6-7:00 – Tyke

7-8:30 - Novice/ PW

8:30-10:00 – Junior

3. Officiating Clinic dates are set for 2009:

4. LNS Goalie Clinic is scheduled for April 25th (new goalies) and April 26th (returning goalies).

5. Coaching Clinic are being finalized for 2009 and dates will be posted on the LNS website soon.

As a final note, I would like to publicly thank Blair Parsons for his many years of service to the Halifax NW Lacrosse Association and to the advancement of the game of lacrosse. Much of his heart and soul has been invested in our club, and we are grateful for it. We’ll be by soon, Blair, to empty out your garage!!!
