2011 Under Armour All-America Lacrosse Classic: FINAL South 11, North 9

Sat, 07/02/2011 - 21:02

Under Armour All-American Lacrosse Classic Post-Game

Ty Xanders will have our annual 10 Who Impressed up later tonight for tomorrow, but here are some other final notes from the game.

* Bobby Wardwell (South Team/Shenendehowa, N.Y.) is your 2011 Under Armour All-American. Was a rock in cage with a UA record 13 saves in the second half. He also held the North scoreless for the entire third quarter. Syracuse has a hole to fill in net, and Wardwell opened up the first salvo in that competition tonight.

* Maryland recruits represented tonight. Goran Murray (South/Haverford), Jay Carlson (South/St. Paul's), Kevin Forster (South/La Salle College), Bobby Gribbins (South/Georgetown Prep) and David Solomon (North/Salisbury School) combined for seven goals and an assist. Murray especially was interesting, pushing the ball for two goals on the night.

* After it looked like the North's Brandon Gamblin (Sachem North) was going to run away with the face-offs, the stats event out in the end, with both sides going 12-24. For the North, Gamblin finished 4-16 and Lyle Thompson finished 6-10, while for the South Bobby Gribbin wented 8-14, while Ryan TUcker finished 4-8, and Tyler German went 0-2.

*All four goalies were impressive tonight. Conor Kelly (9G), Jake Gambitsky (7) and John Connors (5) are all legit DI prospects in this group.

* A ton of great defensive talent in this call as well, but was especially impressed with Michael Pellegrino (Connetquot). He only had one groundball but consistantly attacked the ball. North's Eric Parnon (5GBs) and the South's Brandon Mullins (5GBs) were also impressive.

*11 unassisted goals in the game, including 8 in a row between the second and third quarters. Lot of strong powerful dodgers in this group.
